Introducing Accurx

Image of the Accurx app

We are launching our new online booking system Accurx on Monday 12th June 2023

We anticipate that calls may take longer to deal with during the initial period of its introduction so please be aware.

The new GP triage system will offer patients a range of appointment types from urgent (seen on the day) to routine (pre-bookable) in advance. As this system will be a clinically based triage system, patients will therefore receive the most appropriate type of appointment based on that individual patient’s clinical need.

Patients can access the service online here, via your smartphone or in-person at the surgery

Further Details about Accurx

The duty GP will make the decision to either book a same day urgent, recommend a routine appointment in advance or signpost you to an alternative but appropriately clinically based service for all those patients who are aged two years and over. These services may include The Welsh Eye Care Service (WECS), The Common Ailments Scheme operated by suitably qualified pharmacists cited in local pharmacies, 111 and 111 option 2 (Mental Health), Minor Injuries Unit in Oswestry and Urgent Primary Care Centres situated in either Wrexham Maelor Hospital or Mold Community Hospital.  Wherever possible patients will be offered appointment dates and times at Chirk surgery that are suitable and convenient and take account of their individual circumstances and commitments.

Every Monday and the day following any Bank Holiday only urgent to be seen on the day appointments will be made available so that the surgery can successfully manage the increased demand generated during these periods. In addition, we are always subject to GPs having to take unplanned absences themselves which has the knock-on effect of reducing our capacity for that time. Please be assured that we always endeavour to secure locum GPs to cover these episodes (wherever possible) but sometimes we are unable to secure them especially if the absence is at very short notice so are unable to offer as many appointments as we would like. We appreciate that this situation is not ideal, but we can assure you that we do our very best to provide a service with the resources we have available on a daily basis.

The digital/online element of the new appointment system will also allow patients to request/query prescriptions, sick notes, recent test results or anything else admin related. Patients will also be able to upload appropriate photographs in addition to allowing them to easily access online NHS advice.

Please can all patients wanting to utilise this new system ensure that we have your current mobile number listed on your medical records to assist us to roll out the new system successfully.

Thank you helping to support this positive change.
