How to Make and Cancel an Appointment

All surgeries are by appointment with the Doctor or Nurse of your choice, if available, and booked at a minimum of 10 minute intervals.

Please note that when you book a non-urgent routine appointment (including pre-bookable in advance) with a GP or a Practice Nurse you will be asked a series of questions. The GPs and Nurses have instructed the Reception team to ask you these questions as it helps them in the following ways:

  • To try and ensure we are able to give you an appropriate appointment for your needs
  • From the most appropriate health professional
  • At the most appropriate time

If you choose to telephone please be aware that we have several incoming lines so please be patient if your call is not answered immediately. A member of the Reception team will ask you a series of questions so that all relevant information is captured. Please note that all calls to the surgery are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

Urgent Appointments

Please telephone the surgery and make it clear to the Receptionist that you consider your case is urgent and request a same day appointment. When you call, a receptionist will ask you for details of your problem and will pass all of this information to the duty GP to triage. The duty GP having clinically assessed your request will arrange a face to face or telephone appointment with you if this is required. One doctor is on call each day for triaging in addition to his/her normal work - so please only call if you really believe your problem cannot wait. All children under 16 years with acute presentations are offered a same-day consultation.

Minor Surgery

Doctors perform minor surgery at Chirk Hospital. When you see your doctor he/she will ask you to contact the hospital in order to make an appointment.
